Extreme Kayaking
On October 12 ,2011 in the East Rock area, a local photographer and his wife, Ian and Carolyn Christmann happened to be looking out their window when they noticed cops on the far bank of the river where a woman was panicing and trying to stay afloat. Carolyn told Ian that the cops might need a boat and to see if they could use his kayak. Some information from the New Haven Independent states "As he paddled out, he caught sight of something in the water, 40 or 50 feet from the far shore. “I saw just a head. A woman’s head.”A lesson from a water rescue class during his time as a boy scout years ago came back to Christmann. People panic when they’re caught in the water. It was important that he stay calm and that he calm the woman down.He pulled up alongside her. “I said, ‘Grab the boat and relax,’” Christmann recalled. “She was saying, ‘I’m cold. I’m tired.’ She was exhausted.” The water must have been as cold as 50 degrees, Christmann said. He paddled to the wall at the far bank, where firefighters and cops were waiting to pull the woman out. They thanked him and he paddled back home." The woman ended up fine and Christmann said that the other people in his neghorhood would've reacted the same way to the situation if they had known what was happening. to read more about this story, be sure to check it out at New Haven Independent's website.

Statement of Pupose
Free Time
What do you like to do in your free time? Some people draw, some play sports, some might even say they watch TV. In my free time however, I like to play guitar. I've been playing for over 9 years and practice for at least an hour a day (usually more). I like to play, listen to, and make music. Also I'll sometimes modify, set up, and every now and then paint guitars. I can also play drums and bass. Click this link to see some of my other posts.

Strengths & Weaknesses
In class today, we lookedt our blogs and scoredhem on a rubric. This was to find out what was wrong was wrong with our blogs, and what our strengths and weaknesses were with blogging. What I learned today was that I need more posts, original images, hyperlinks on every post, and a feature profile interview with another blogger. My strengths however, were giving the blog an appealing visual, making it in an easy-to-read format, having a clear statement of purpose in my posts, and keeping my blogs free of grammatical, mechanical, and spelling errors.
